Yoli's is built out over the water. Not near it, not with a view of it: the whole bar and grill sits on a palapa-covered structure on pilings at the southern tip of the Placencia peninsula, with a dock that lets boaters pull up and tie off without ever setting foot on the road. That is the reason to walk down here, and it is the reason locals and expats have been treating the place as their hangout for years.
What Yoli's Actually Is
Officially it is Yoli's Over Da Water Bar & Grill, though most people just say Yoli's Bar & Grill. It is a dockside drinking-and-eating spot, the kind of place where the crowd is a mix of Placencia locals and the expat community who have settled along the peninsula. The over-the-water setting is the whole identity: you sit under the palapa with the Caribbean moving underneath the floorboards, and boats come and go from the dock.
If you are working your way down the peninsula, this is the southern anchor. It sits at the far tip, past the village proper, and it earns the walk or the boat ride on its setting alone.
Come for the Barbecue, Friday and Sunday
Ask anyone who reviews the place what to order and the answer is the barbecue. Yoli's runs it two days a week, Fridays and Sundays, and that is the food it is best known for: pork chops, ribs, and chicken off the grill. This is the single most useful thing to know before you go. If the barbecue is why you are coming, come on a Friday or a Sunday. Show up on a Tuesday and you have missed the thing the place is famous for.
It is a bar and grill first, so the drinking and the dock are always there. But the barbecue is the event, and the event has a schedule.

Yoli's is run by Yoli herself, who is from Placencia, alongside her husband Regan. That local ownership is part of why the place reads as a genuine peninsula hangout rather than a resort bar built for passing tourists. It is a Placencia spot run by a Placencia family, and the regulars treat it that way.
Who It's For
Yoli's suits the traveler who wants to sit somewhere with water under the floor and a cold drink, ideally on a barbecue day. It suits boaters, since the dock is the front door. And it suits anyone who would rather drink where the locals and long-term expats actually go than where the brochure points them.
