What It Was
Restaurante Laguna sat on the lagoon side of Umaya Resort & Adventures in Maya Beach, on the Placencia Peninsula, serving a fusion of Belizean and international flavors. Reviewers came back to a few things in particular: the lagoon views with the Maya Mountains on the horizon, the breakfast fry jacks, and the catch-of-the-day seafood. As of December 2025 the restaurant was renamed and rebranded as Casa de Maíz, a Mexican-street-food and Mayan-tradition-inspired restaurant at the same Umaya Resort location, ending its operation under the Restaurante Laguna name.
