What It Was
J-Dee's was a family-run spot, a mother-and-son operation, on the main road of Placencia Village in the Stann Creek District. The kitchen worked in traditional Belizean and Creole home cooking: stewed chicken, stewed pork, rice and beans, and conch done both creole-style and in a coconut curry. Reviewers also singled out the seafood, the shrimp ceviche and the grilled snapper in garlic butter. Locally, it was known for its karaoke on Sunday nights. If you came looking for it on the Placencia road, the record above is why you won't find it open.
