The Full Story
Habanero's, in Depth
Permanently closed.
Habanero, full name Habanero Mexican Café & Bar, was a Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurant and bar that stood at the marina of Robert's Grove Peninsula Resort on the Placencia Peninsula. It sat about half a mile from Seine Bight Village and roughly five miles up the road from Placencia Village, on the water rather than in Maya Beach.
What it was known for
The kitchen ran a mix of Tex-Mex and traditional Mexican plates, and reviewers and guides kept coming back to the same few: shrimp fajitas, guacamole, and chimichangas. The draw was as much the setting as the food. It was a waterside, marina-side table, and the spot was a favorite for sunset.
Why it closed
Robert's Grove Peninsula Resort, the property that housed Habanero, closed in 2022. It was later acquired by The Belize Collection and rebranded as Blue Reef Beach Resort and Marina. In the renovation that followed, the original marina restaurant was redeveloped into new dining concepts under the resort's rebrand, and no restaurant currently operates there under the Habanero name.
People still search for this one, so it is worth being plain: the Habanero page is a record, not a listing. If you are looking for a table on the peninsula tonight, start with the Placencia Village guide instead.
